Profile

Slipstream Merchandise offers the production and worldwide distribution of officially licensed merchandise. The team at Slipstream were looking for their existing website to undergo a visual update and improve usability, along with showcasing the services on offer. In addition, Roland Brown looked to improve in-house administration allowing easy updates, as well as enhancing interaction and improving the overall user experience.

Solution

The website was given a modern revamp, focussing on improving the visual design and enhancing usability, whilst at the same time, clearly demonstrating the services offered by Slipstream.

“The previous website did a good job in displaying the information that was available, but the overall design lacked the modern edge that we were looking for. The new design is crisp and contemporary, and works much better in portraying a professional image and showcasing what Slipstream has to offer.”

Along with the image revamp and improvements made to the usability of the site, the main sections were redeveloped so that content can be updated efficiently when required, using an external XML file.

“We have a lot of artists displayed on the website, along with products and services. These can change on a regular basis, which is why we needed an effective way to be able to update the site ourselves. Now that we are able to add or amend images and text in a very simple way into the XML file, we have the perfect solution with room for expansion in the future.”

A key feature within the redesign was to enhance interactivity within each of the sections of the website, with a view to improving overall user experience.

“The website now offers a number of areas where the user can interact and click to view different artists and products. The scrolling effect, which alters depending upon the position of the mouse is very effective, and allows for lots of content to be displayed within the window. It also gives the user something to interact with and is far more effective than displaying rows and rows of static images.”
